The American Foregut Society Quality Improvement Project

The American Foregut Society Quality Improvement Project (AFSQIP) isn an online quality improvement tool enabling surgeons to track cases, measure outcomes, and improve their practice through real-time analytics. The AFS QIP is a non-profit project created by the American Foregut Society (foregut.org), a non-profit national medical society. The purpose of the AFSQIP is to enable providers to improve the care of their patients through long-term patient-reported outcomes.

This is very different from the ‘satisfaction’ surveys you may have received after visiting a provider or hospital that ask ‘did we provide timely good service’ during your visit. Though these surveys may be helpful, they don’t ask what to us is the key question: ‘Did your treatment plan succeed – not just today, but in the months and years to come?’

So to this end – your provider has teamed up with the AFSQIP and enlisted our free services to help understand  -  ‘Did your treatment plan succeed – not just today, but in the months and years to come?’  We send surveys (via email or text links) asking you to tell us and your provider about how your health is relative to the treatment you received.

In addition to giving your provider feedback on your treatment outcome, we analyze the data from all patients after stripping away any personal identifications. This combined or aggregate data is then available to your provider and this helps him or her look at other patient’s outcomes to better inform patients of their treatment options and anticipated success.

We use a HIPAA-compliant database to store the minimal amount of protected information needed to contact you and to understand a few personal variables that relate to your disease. We don’t ask for things like your social security number, insurance details, etc., and we never release or sell your personal information to other entities.

We and your provider are grateful beyond anything we can express for the time you take to provide us with responses to the surveys we send out.

Sincerely,

The AFS QIP and your Providers
